Hi, I’m Miss Westwood and I teach alongside Mrs McNeill in Y1
We work closely together to provide the best for the children in our care.
Hello – I am Miss McCarthy and I am the Y1Mc class teacher. In our class children will have the opportunity to explore a happy, vibrant and fun learning environment to discover many new skills of learning.
During the Autumn term we provide a balance of academic learning and child centred play, inspiring all of our children to learn and develop at their own ability focusing on their reading, writing and maths skills.
Throughout the Spring term children are encouraged to further their independent learning through a varied academic curriculum, embracing new learning in topics such as; ‘The Great Fire of London’ and ‘Which materials would be best to build the 3 little pig’s home?’ as well as nurturing their spirituality along their continual faith journey. In our class we firmly believe that “Jesus is at the heart of everything we do”.
At the end of our journey in Y1, in the Summer term, all children will have enhanced their learning in reading, writing and maths including topics such as; ‘Plants’, ‘Where do leaves go in the winter?’ and ‘Grace Darling’. They will be filled to the brim with St Margaret Clitherow’s strong Catholic ethos and be able to promote the school rules and sense of family, as they embark on their journey in to Y2.
